Bibliophiles Book Fair
The Bibliophiles Book Fair Awardsare conceived as a recognition of merit within the framework of the Bibliophiles Book Fair, a digital book fair dedicated to showcasing authors, especially emerging voices, who contribute to the vitality and diversity of contemporary publishing.
The motivations behind the awards are rooted in the belief that books remain a living cultural force and that new authors play a fundamental role in renewing intellectual debate, literary research, and creative expression.
The awards are granted to highlight works and authors that stand out for:
Originality and creative vision. Recognising authors who present innovative ideas, distinctive voices, or unconventional approaches to narrative, research, or artistic expression.
Quality of content and research. Valuing works that demonstrate intellectual rigor, depth of analysis, and careful attention to sources, language, and structure.
Cultural and thematic relevance. Honouring books that engage meaningfully with historical, social, philosophical, or artistic themes, contributing to contemporary cultural dialogue.
Editorial courage and independence. Supporting authors and projects that emerge outside mainstream publishing circuits, reflecting autonomy, experimentation, and editorial commitment.
Contribution to bibliophilia and the book as an object. Appreciating works that show respect for the book not only as a text, but also as a cultural artifact, through thoughtful design, presentation, or conceptual coherence.
Through these motivations, the Bibliophiles Book Fair Awards aim to encourage emerging authors, foster visibility for new projects, and create a space where talent, passion, and intellectual curiosity can be discovered and shared within a digital environment accessible to an international audience.
Reserved for Members
Exclusively intended for members of the Centre, the Bibliophiles Awards strengthen the association’s statutory mission: to safeguard the book as a cultural asset and to promote bibliophilia as a living discipline, rooted in study, passion, and responsibility toward future generations.
The Bibliophiles Awardswere established by the Centre for Bibliophilia Studies out of the need to offer tangible recognition for the passionate work of research, care, and preservation that bibliophiles carry out daily within their collections.
The award was created with three main objectives:
To celebrate collecting excellence. Honouring members who, through carefully targeted acquisitions, meticulous restorations, and rigorous cataloguing, preserve rare or forgotten segments of the book and typographic heritage.
To promote the sharing of knowledge. Highlighting private collections which, though kept in a personal context, represent significant cultural capital and foster collaboration with scholars, institutions, and fellow enthusiasts.
To strengthen the community of members. Creating an annual occasion in which association members can meet, exchange best practices, and inspire new generations of collectors.
A flexible and evolving award
From the outset, it was decided not to rigidly confine the award to fixed categories. Instead, the sections change each year in order to reflect current trends:
Modern and contemporary collections
Ancient collections and incunabula
Best expert or scholar (for expertise, dissemination, catalogues)
Best acquisition of the year (single volume or group of books)
Lifetime Achievement Award for a long-standing commitment to the preservation of books
